Jon English Antique Sports and Cards in Shelbyville is a must-stop for visitors exploring Walking Horse Country in Bedford County. Tucked into the historic downtown district, this unique shop is packed with antique and vintage sports cards, equipment, and memorabilia that spans generations.
Owner Jon English welcomes guests to browse both the brick-and-mortar store and vintagesportsantiques.com. Christine Rachelle, who manages the website, said the Shelbyville location opened in 2020 and has quickly become a favorite for collectors and curious travelers alike.
“We are a one-of-a-kind website and shop selling vintage collectible sports cards, vintage sports equipment, often in the original packaging, from the 1800s to the 1970s including uniforms and historic gear, and antique sports memorabilia including programs, tickets, pennants, sports-themed advertising, trophies, and so much more,” Rachelle said. “At the shop, we offer vintage graded cards, card sets, unopened cases, and boxes of loose cards for the card hunter to sort through at one of our multiple sorting stations, each equipped with a chair and an outlet for charging.”
From rare finds to nostalgic treasures, the shop offers something for everyone, whether you are a lifelong collector or simply looking for a memorable stop while visiting Shelbyville. Rachelle said hobbyists and sports fans often discover items that spark memories and make great gifts.
“Collectors of vintage and antique sports cards, equipment, and memorabilia will find a one-of-a-kind experience, often likened to a museum, with fair pricing and unparalleled selection, especially in the antique equipment,” she said. “Kids can come learn about card collecting and how sports used to be played, and everyone seems to enjoy a good chat with Jon.”
